ASSESORS

Kees Wientjens is a founding member of ISSA and came to Australia to pursue a rural lifestyle where he could combine his knowledge of flower growing with his passion for breeding beautiful horses.

Kees and his family have worked very hard and made a great success of their 'flower farm' and quite recently Kees has moved towards a full time involvement in horse breeding. He says that flower farming and horse breeding are very similar ... you have to work hard to get things right.
With the great depth of knowledge that Kees brings from Holland and many homeland contacts, Kees is now importing semen from many of the best stallions in the World. His knowledge is a great asset to ISSA.

Dirk (Dick) Buys and his wife Miep left rural life in Holland many years ago to take up dairy farming in Gippsland. Dick's father had a passionate interest in horses which the young Dirk shared with him. This early involvement with his father's choices of brook mares and stallions taught Dick some his most valuable

lessons. Dick was a keen competitive rider and found this to be of great value when assessing the bloodlines which had a greater aptitude for training. Having settled to life in Australia Dirk has been a keen breeder for many years and understands the European way of breeding to perpetuate certain highly desirable traits. Dick is founding member of ISSA and has much to offer the selection panel.

Mary Hanna has been importing stallions and breeding Warmbloods for many years and through her quest to reach a top international ranking in the sport of dressage, has developed an excellent eye for what is required in the ideal Dressage Horse.

Mary has twice represented Australia at Olympic Games level (Atlanta and Sydney) and believes that Dressage training MUST start with a suitable, purpose bred young horse.

ISSA is delighted to have Mary on the selection panel.

Dirk Djikstra runs the Australian Equestrian Academy at Burong, near Winchelsea, outside Geelong. As the head of one of the most successful teaching and breeding establishments in Australia, Dirk has been committed to an AEA Burong breeding program to ensure that young horses

with the right conformation and temperament are coming up to be available for clients and students of the centre. The Djikstra's have many contacts in their native Holland, and have imported the semen of some of the best stallions in the world to upgrade the Australian performance horse gene pool. Daughter Stephanie is now a keen dressage rider and showjumper. She is having great success on AEA bred horses.
